Are you Ready?
Unsure if you are ready to receive Christ into your life?
How do you know if you are ready?
The fact your asking means you are ready?
Still not convinced? Okay ask yourself these questions:
Have you always felt something is missing but not quite sure what it is?
Do you feel like there is something you're supposed to be doing?
What is your first response to problems or when you're feeling alone or hurting?
- Do you pick up the phone and call your Friends or Family and complain or gossip?
- Do you turn to Drugs, Alcohol, Sex, Shopping, etc...
How do you feel after? Did it make you feel better? Worse? Empty?
If you answered YES to 1 or more of these questions, then this shows you are definitely ready.
What does this mean?
God has been trying to talk to you. From the moment you were born, he has always been there. But you're not a robot he is not going to control your actions he just sits and waits for you to engage with him.
How do you engage with him?
Reading the Bible "daily"
Going to Church
Surrounding yourself with other believers
Listening to Worship Music
- No this does not mean you pick one, you need to engage in "everything".
- No this does not mean you won't have a life
- No this does not mean you have to better yourself before you can walk down this road (there is never going to be a better time than now, regardless of what shape you are in or what a mess you might think you are.. NOW is the time!)
- No this does not mean you have to be perfect - NO ONE IS PERFECT! No one will ever be Perfect
So what do I do now?
I know its difficult to seek God because there is so much hypocrisy in every religion. But understand:
No one will ever be perfect
Nope, not even Pastors! We are all struggling and growing "daily". All of us take steps forward & stumble back down the hill JUST to make that journey back up that hill again.
Seeking God does not mean your life will finally be perfect, God only makes ALL obstacles in your life easier to bear.
Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
What does this mean?
Give everything to God, Its time to let all your burdens go... STOP trying to figure them all out... it's emotionally exhausting. TRUST GOD to handle the situation and DO NOT get tempted to take them back because they're not working out to the way you want them too. It's not about what you want, he is working them out to the way they are supposed to be because he knows the path you are supposed to take and the more we keep on taking the wrong path we are only making it worse by getting lost and it's going to take even longer to get to where he has been trying to take you this whole time.
Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
So to answer your question "What do I do now?"
Becoming a Christian is not merely believing some creed or going to church. It is having Christ Himself take residence in your life and heart. Jesus said,
“Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in ” If you would like to have a relationship with Christ, simply pray this prayer and mean it in your heart.
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe you died for my sins. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and life. I confess you as my personal Lord and Savior.
Thank you for saving me. AMEN!”
GUESS WHAT? You are saved!
Jesus died on the cross for all your sins long ago, Your sins are forgiven!
What do I do now?
Find a local Christian church, I know this can be hard there is so many how do you know which is the right one? Well since you are new this will be hard, but remain in the Bible because staying in God's word is the only way to know if what they are teaching you to align with God's word. I personally prefer a Non-Denominational Christian church. What is Non-Denominational: Open or acceptable to people of any Christian denomination.
If you have a hard time let me know and I will help you look into local churches in your area.
Be careful there is a lot of misleading ones out there that say their Christian but they do not teach Jesus the way they should.
1. Get a New Living Translation Bible - Don't have one let me know and I'll send you one :) Not sure where to start in the Bible the book of John is a good one, or you can start with Mathew and work your way forward and when you tackled that then you can start in Genesis forward but save those ones for after, as they are pretty complex for a new believer.
2. Prayer: Start praying to God, Praying is nothing fancy as people make it seem, just talk with God.
Example" Dear God Ummm I really don't know what I am doing, I feel a little lost right now, how about those Dodgers..lol
BUT seriously just talk with him as if you are talking and complaining or gossiping with your friends and family on the phone, Get angry if you feel Angry. Every child yells at their parents, but they never love us any less, he just wants to hear from you share with him EVERYTHING don't hold back!
3. Put on a Christian Radio station - I like 95.9 the fish (Live Stream it online)
Join a class or group in your church, This is a perfect way to meet other Christians of faith and shows you that everyone is struggling just like you. It also helps you get involved in your community.
Reach out to me if you like, I'd love to hear how your journey is going!
